Mark, thanks for showing some of the earthquake devastation in Wells. Really a sad deal. Of course, it can be fixed but at what price, that being the problem. The El Rancho and Bullshead were and probably still are owned by Peg Kaplan.

I was the one that got Allan to publish the gaming history of Wells that was the featured cover article a couple years ago...Then the next issue, "The Story of Giovanna," These were a joint effort of Peg and Gene.

Gene was feeling poorly this spring and Peg took him to SLC to a doctor and found he had some nasty form of cancer. They returned to Wells and Gene passed away 4 days later.

Gene was a retired military guy and just wanted to see the old Wells places retrned to some of their former glory. At this point Peg isn't sure what is going to happen and has kind of indicated that maybe she has lost interest for awhile if not forever after losing Gene.

They were living int he El Rancho but now she is living in an apartment. She's a fighter and I am sure that there is more to come but she needs some time to heal.

I realize that "If it isn't Vegas, it isn't anything", with many folks, but Gene and Peg need to be recognized as a couple that belived in a small town and wanted to see it look nice again.
