Since you've asked "why" ...
"Emails are sent to all members for a vote. The vote has to happen within say...72 hours. Top vote getter wins. Those that don't vote do not have a reason to complain! That sounds so easy. Makes people feel like they have a say.

What I don't understand is why some folks think that because they are "on-line" it gives them some sort of super-status club membership? How about all the club members who are NOT on-line? Are they somehow less of a club member?
The only voting that the entire club membership votes on are the club officer elections, OTY awards, and some occassional C&BL issues. The club membership elects club officers to make the day-to-day decision making of running the organization.
