Vacationers Hitting Room Jackpot in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV -- Bad economy? Good for Las Vegas visitors. "Sin City," which for the past five decades has been widely considered recession-proof, is discounting room rates with prices now at their lowest points since 2003.
In an extensive survey of 84 casino-hotels, the Web site LasVegasAdvisor.com found that more than half (47) had available rates of $50 or less in July. And it's not only the lower-tier hotels. Despite efforts to disguise discounting on the high end, many of Las Vegas' luxury resorts are slashing rates -- plus they're offering additional incentives, such as meal credits, gambling free-play, and even airfare and gasoline rebates. The survey found prices below $90 at Luxor, MGM Grand, Flamingo, Hard Rock, Mirage, Palms, Planet Hollywood, and Paris. Meanwhile, a rate check of comparable accommodations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Orlando yielded only two hotels with a sub-$50 rate.
The discounting goes beyond just rooms. Savvy travelers who do their homework are getting great deals on shows, food, and virtually all aspects of a Las Vegas vacation. The entire room-rate survey, along with tips for finding the deals, can be viewed at LasVegasAdvisor.com.
