While the issue of invited would be of interest to lawyers arguing a case or teaching in a law school, I doubt most folks would regard the entry as strictly invited.
There is little doubt that clubmembers who went knew it was private property.
It is also my understanding that some have sold what they have found for profit.
Sadly there are actions taken by club members which reflect poorly upon the club all to frequently.
MY BS is called the law (god love it) and only dealt with the issue of whether a criminal act had been committed. Something I happen to be qualified and licensed to do. A good example of a law that is not enforced as strongly as some feel it should is the unlawful practice of law. There are folks who engage in an assortment of criminal acts who feel their crimesare OK-includinvg speeding.
The comparison to Katrina is fallacious. The chips and coins are clearly abandoned property items lost or mislaid do to disaster or other involuntary act are by definition not abandoned.
