Personnel are employees of a business or corporation. Since none of the volunteers are employed by this particular corporation, I'd suggest that any actions taken (either positive or negative) concerning a volunteer to be personal. Removing someone from an appointed volunteer position in cases like this are either related to perceived ineffectiveness in the position, or personal differences on how the task at hand has been accomplished even when it is/was successful.
This is not the first time this corporation has "fired" a volunteer. In my case, I didn't know I was "fired" until a replacement had already been appointed and said replacement publicly announced it. At least Mike knew what happened when it happened, and count me in on the consensus -- the timing in this case was absolutely terrible.
