PayPal-- new bad rules if you sell internationally

Effective July 9th PayPal changed some rules -- "Section 4.3 is amended so that eBay sellers must accept international PayPal transactions if the eBay listing offers shipping outside the US."

As one poster mentioned on the PayPal bulletin board,
"Let me see if I've got this straight: Fraudpal [PayPal] offers ZERO protection to sellers outside the USA, Canada and UK, YET they will require all sellers who offer international shipping to take it [PayPal credit card-funded payment] even if the winning bidder is in an area that Paypal doesn't cover [with PP Seller Protection Policy] ? Absoultely incredible! No wonder the stock is tanking. Seems like no one running eBay has any brains."

It means, for example, if you sell to the UK and Canada, you must also sell to and accept credit card-funded payments from Nigeria, where you have no charge-back protection!

Some posters said you might get around this by insisting that you only accept PayPal from confirmed addresses, of which there are not many abroad.

Of course, you could refuse to sell internationally-- all foreign countries.
