Looks like my handy work, whatever works!! So I see you have no gutter system, definetly dryrot then, unless the wood is damp. Either way spring for the pressure treated lumber it is well worth it especially in your semi-tropical neck of the woods. The porch is a cantilever so it will support itself but if there is more rot it may sag, Eric
