During the 70s and 80s the operation at JTV on GBI was in its hayday; group flights from TX and Canada would fly in landing on the private airstrip right on the property which also had its own electrical and water plant; otherwise, the marina would accommodate small craft and ships at its own harbor... or buses from Freeport would do the 25-min trip several times per day, especialy a big thing at nite to/from the casino.
It's also believed that the King Charles Room on the property housed a casino at one time... but, if true, it was short-lived and prior to my many visits in the 70s and 80s.
The property was run as an "All Inclusive" resort... meaning everything was included 24-hours a day; all entertainment, meals and drinks; even call drinks... and some pretty good, unknown (at the time) Canadian artists would perform while on holiday.
The property had a very important connection here in West Palm Beach, Florida... and a neighor and family friend of nine built the swimming pool which was the largest in this part of the world at its time.
The property later remained in disrepair for several years; then recently purchased, and about to become a Ginn resort with world-class casinos, condos, hotels and shopping malls.
