There is a very strong bias against IEAH Stables by some of the old guard in the racing community, both owners and writers.
Iavarone was never convicted of anything illegal, was fined a small amount and censured. That was in the early 90's, when he was 22.
Dutrow openly acknowledges administering Winstrol to the horses he trains. His stance is that his vet says it helps the horse, and it is legal. He also says the minute it is banned, he will stop using it. Many trainers take the same position.
To suggest St. Liam was was "magically transformed" by some Dutrow shenanagins is unfair. True, the horse did win two of his first 6 starts, but he also placed 3 times, and had posted triple digit speed ratings. The talent was always there.
IEAH Stables was honored by the NY turf Writers Club last year for their contributions to the racing community, including their very substantial endowment that built the new equine hospital right across the street from Belmont.
I would not call that piece fair and balanced.
