My local post office refuses to ship a #000 sized (approx 4 X 8 X 1/2") package for the large envelope rate per their web sites information. The site says that if any ONE dimension is exceeded then it is a large envelope. In my case the length and width are under their minimums but the thickness is over the 1/4" minimum but under the 3/4" max. The local cage critters say that it is a parcel not a large envelope. Their postmaster doesn't have a clue. In fact she didn't even know what a large envelope was. So I filed a complaint with the Customer Service group and talked to 2 different people, one local. Needless to say they didn't have a clue either. The different people keep asking if the package is too stiff to be a large envelope and I tell them that the reason given for it being a parcel is only that it is too small. Even after I showed all of them the printout from their own web site the ydon't get it. AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!.
So I am still waiting for a resolution on this. I wouldn't mind paying a little more but in this case the surcharge was almost 50%.
