Re: NCR: Wireless Internet Options Question
Long ago I used to have Comcast for TV, & internet. My phone service was AT&T & I also had Sprint cell phone. I switched my cable service to directv since I got tired of the constant monthly rate increase of cable service, it was .10-.15 every month but the point is that I never paid the same amount every month. Since I had a cell phone and I no longer used my home fax machine, I decided to disconect the lan line, ATT, and use my own cell phone. End result, Directtv basic package is $39.99, at least $10 cheaper than cable, my internet went up $5 dollars a month since I no longer had a tiered package, but I counteracted by signing in on a direct debit to my bank account, I saved on the $5 increase, I also bought my own cable modem, and saved an extra $3 monthly for the rental and service of their own modem. If you are familiar with installing your cable internet modem or know someone who can do it, is not a problem besides, they do not breakdown so easily, unless you abuse it. The 3/month turns into 36 a year, the price you can pay for a half way decent modem on sale or after rebates. Disconnecting the lan line AT&T, saved me an extra $35.00 or so, this is what the phone company charges you just to have a phone service, even if you do not answer the phone at all you are charged at least $35.00 for the service, plus taxes and so forth. If you still want to keep your old home phone number, you can always add a line to your current cell phone service and transfer your old home phone #, and that is just an extra $10 or so. Not sure on your area, but right there I saved myself $48.00
