for sale California Collectors, Embassy Club, 1940's

If I am reading my Eastman's correctly and the more recent Staeffler California Card Room Guide, this plain mold, yellow chip with "Embassy" in script on both sides, is from the Embassy/Embassy Club at 15331 S. Vermont St., Gardena, CA from 1938 to 1969. I'm thinking that this chip is closer to 1938 than it is to 1969!

I acquired this chip about a year or so ago, when I was in Paso Robles, CA; some distance away from Gardena! In an antique store there I ended up buying several white and yellow, plain mold, "Duke's" and "GFB" chips that are attributed to Duke's Smoke Shop, Paso Robles, CA. This yellow "Embassy" chip was in with the 10 or so yellow Duke's chips and because I have not fully funded my Convention trip (and other matters) I plan to offer this older California chip For Sale in two steps, if it lasts that long.

Step One is posting here and asking any interested buyer to make me an offer (one that I can't refuse) between now and later this evening (8:00 pm Pacific Time). Step Two will be to put the chip on eBay (8:00:01 pm or so) and let the greater eBay market decide value. If you feel inclined to make an offer, please do so via email. While my internet access is hit and miss, I will try to monitor my email and I will respond at the time of offer review with a yea or nay, as opposed to holding an offer against another offer.

I will also make a better scan, however, this chip is well used. The hot-stamp foil is all gone and the hot-stamp die indentation is rather shallow, but legible. Please feel free to ask questions here, but bid via email.

Thanks for looking!

Jim
