Advertising? I had 72 30 second TV commercial spots that ran on all of the poker shows on TV for 6 weeks prior to the Show. Not to mention the 1000s of flyers and post cards. I had 2 CHIP GIRLS to come out and look pretty and entertain the attendees (the few that showed up) and gave away 500 piece poker sets as door prizes.
We even had one of Doug Saito's "famous" auctions!
I know this was my first show, but a lot of the collectors didn't come out because they wanted to see how the first show went. (This is what some of them actually told me!) Well, we had a great time and some of the dealers actually made money, but I don't feel we got the support necessary from the actual collectors...by the way, thank you Stu for coming out!
Some of you don't realize the huge expense to just rent a room big enough for a show...insurance...security...etc. (And selling tables to dealers doesn't always pay for the room!) And the time necessary to put one of these things together!?!?! WOW! I really appreciate what CT and Jim do to try to increase the awareness for this hobby! You can't have a show without collectors and you can't have a show without dealers!
I have learned from my mistakes and may someday have another Nor Cal Show, but until then...
THANK YOU CT AND JIM FOR ALL YOU DO AND ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR THIS HOBBY!!!!!!
