Just before I volunteered to be on the Planning Committee I had sent a letter to Steve Margolis about this very subject. I contacted several of the book publishers and the bad news is that as of right now none of them have a plan put out a new edition in the near future. There is a tremendous amount of work involved in getting a book up to date and between time constraints, cost and work, etc. the authors are overwhelemed. I am continuing to investigagte the matter but so far I have not come up with a viable solution. I would suggest that the club get into the book publishing business but we can't even hardly find enough volunteers for our convention much less to supply thousands of hours putting together a book. And at this point it seems like none of the authors I have talked to are interested in selling the rights/databases anyway. If you have any good ideas I would be happy to pursue them.
