I have been contacted be a fella named Zach. He's trying to find a buyer for quite a few uncirculated chips from Don French's Bonanza. He sent me a scan in Microsoft Word showing 60 $5's, a box of .50, and a dozen $1's.I told him I'd try to help him find a buyer. I asked him how many chips he had because that would be the first question anyone would ask. He emailed back that he had about 10 of each! 30 chips!! This is after sending me a picture with alot more than ten chips. I asked him what happened to all the other chips, but I haven't recieved a reply as of yet. I told him that it made me uncomfortable to show a buyer a scan of a bunch of chips and then tell them that there are only 30 chips total. Anyway, I checked Ebay and sure enough he had a $5 on sale. His description is as follows;
"I live in Las Vegas and came about this chip through my great grandfather's boxes in an Old Chip case I found this unique antique. I have kept in plastic ever since, even though it definately held its own in the case. The book value is through the roof, yet I know there are many collecters out there who would like to add this to a collection. I have not seen many of these on ebay or around the chip circuit. So good luck on the bidding. In the price guide the $0.50 chip is going for $125.00 uncirculated and $75.00 slightly used. Here is the $5.00 chip ready for bidding!!!!"
This fella isn't straight up. I don't know what the book values are as I haven't taken time to look them up, but they may need to be adjusted in the future TCR's.
If I knew how to copy the picture he sent me I would post it but I don't know how to retrieve it from Word. Here's a link to his auction. He claims he has had an offer of $3200 and another offer that was more attractive per chip (whatever that means).
