Look at Costco and the range of Hewlett Packard / Compaq laptops they offer. Many are in the $600 range. In fact, you can probably get a laptop for less than the cost of th screen projector the club bought. No need to go for super fast, dual processor, fancy graphics... most any modern laptop will do for handling the presentations at the convention. I just learned a few months ago that Microsoft now sells their OFFICE package of software at a greatly reduced price or personal use or for nonprofits. About $125 for Word, Excel, Powerpoint and a couple of others. You don't have to be a student or have educational affiliations anymore.
