Re: So who do we suppose "Chipper Greg" is?...

Just posted in relation to the story, on the Kansas City Star response page! What a sweetheart! mad mad mad

My name is Anthony Valvo. I am a Life Member of the American Numismatic Association. I would caution all readers of this article, that the number of casino chip collectors, that would buy such a chip is very small.
We at the ANA, collect, mostly US Minted coins, and currency. Casino Chips are NOT protected under the ?U.S. Hobby Protection Act?, ####www.apic.us/Resources/HobbyProtectionAct/tabid/261/Default.aspx.
Anyone can make/counterfeit a casino chip; it is not a crime. There are also no identifying digital or analog color databases, to determine authenticity. It is also very difficult to perform tensile strength, hardness and other test on these items, without destroying them. Further more; if quantitative authentication standards did exist, No numismatic club, has such data, and manufacturers records are difficult, if not impossible to attain.
No policing agency exists for casino chips counterfeiters. A shinning example of this is the poor quality image used in this segment. We at the ANA could never sell a $20,000.00 US coin with the poor camera parallax seen in the Showboat House Chip.
Be careful!

Sincerely,

Anthony Valvo
