Gil Elvgen was your friend's neighbor?
That's pretty cool! He was a great pin up artist! Died in the 70's I think.
I have a couple of his calendar prints buried in a box somewhere in my basement as I used to collect pin up art a few years back.
Elvgren and Rofl Armstrong are two favorites of mine.
