You underscore why it is so important to realize that when you are dealing with the EBay universe, it is "caveat emptor". eBay won't lift a finger to stop it. The first question i ask myself when I buy on eBay is "who am I buying from?" I ask a lot of questions. Gemerally, the responses (or non-responses) are very helpful is getting a line on who I am dealing with.
It is a shame. I must say, though, that I have seen a few regular eBay chip dealers do the same thing, though to a much lesser extent. They will tout the published values and "rarity" of a certain chip that the know full well is not what it once was.
You need to be paying attention. We all wish it was different, but those days are gone. Too many people care more about a quick buck then the value of their good name.
