I believe Isaid I like Vegas, I am one of those volunteers, and I agree (in detail in my post) the work it would take to have a non las vegas conv.
If someone (and by that I mean a group of someones) were willing to step up and shoulder the hefty workload, then I'd be all for it. New is not bad, I checked. And everytime someone uses the word change (or different) you don't need to come barking and growling out of your cave.
I do believe have events in addition to the convention is much more feasible, but still would require a great deal of work. I also think a group wanting to host a non vegas conv should try hosting a smaller event to get an idea of the work, time etc.
I am bugged by the attitude of some who think that since they want something, the club should hop toand do it to please them, even if it is not what the majority want. They are upset when others don't jump to the work, or we pay others to do the work so they can be appeased. The club puts on a wonderful conv., if you've never been go. If after you have been, and you have constructive comments which you think will benefit the club, great speak up. But remember, most of the most effective changes, additions or substractions have come as a result of someone stepping up and doing the work.
There has been a problem getting enough folks to stay at the riv, two new ideas that have helped are the riv raffle and the share a room program. These exist because others did the work.
