EBay payments by cash

A few months ago there waas a thread about accepting cash payments for eBay items. EBay prohibits sellers from stating that they accept cash in the mail, as eBay's system for "protecting" buyers includes prohibiting any suggestion that buyers send cash through the mail. Cash can be accepted for in-person payments.

In that old thread, I reprinted my payment instructions, which indicated that I accepted cash - but it did not instruct or encourage anyone to send cash through the mail (I left it vague on purpose). At that time, eBay had not cancelled any of my listings.

Today I received a phone call (yes, from a human) at eBay letting me know that three of my chip auctions were being cancelled. Mr. Human told me that the payment instructions have to be clearer that cash is accepted for in-person payments.

Although the wording of eBay's policy remains unchanged over this past month or so, apparently their interpretation has changed. I am editing all my listings to make clear that "Cash is accepted for in-person pickup in the following currency/coins, at current exchange rates: US dollars, Canadian, British Sterling, Euros." (added language shown in bold).

If anyone followed my old advice, please consider my new language under the new interpretation.
