A few months ago there was a smiliar ban on smoking for all resturaunts inside Houston city limits. While the non smokers will cheer and high five eachother they lose site that the owner or these restaraunts loses his ability to decide what goes on in his own establishment.
What has this country come to when someone cant open thier own establishment, decide that it will be a smoking environment and advertise it as such. Is that really something that the government should be deciding or should it up to each owner to decide what they will allow in thier own business and then let the customers make a decision on whether to frequent them or not.
I am not here to debate second hand smoke or whether smoking is good or bad for you. What I am pointing out is a clear invasion of personal rights of the owner for something that is currently NOT illegal. Shouldnt a bar or restaraunt owner have the right to choose what happens in thier own place of business?
Whats next, the government stepping in and deciding that they can only serve healthy food?
Just my personal opinion,
Doug
