Wayne, looks like an inlay tear to me...
Given the heat and pressure used to set the inlays and inserts as part of tha final process of chip manufacture, it is not surprising to see an inlay get torn. Paul-Son QC should have pulled that one, but heck, you need someone working QC to take the action.
I have a similar defect on a $1 O'Shea's. I'll have to scan it and post later.
And BTW-Don't ya just hate it when the boss gets in thte same thread!
