PB/Green Duck...
Hey folks! Obviously you know the treasure hunters have found your board. I have not included my e-mail as I prefer to communicate here. I am a local. I am the one who provided the newspaper article about GD closing and being renovated into the Gale Center. Green Duck is closed and has been for years. Originally, less than a dozen people got chips, how many got them in the middle of the night, who knows? There were only PB chips there and I estimate about 15-20 thousand. If you look at the photo you can see that the chips don't go very deep in the hole. The location is Mississippi, about 15 miles south of the Tenn. line. They didn't rust because not all metal rusts, the inserts are not steel. The chips are no longer GD property, but were found on city property and therefore belong to the city, if anyone. Given that the police officers originally gave the all clear and their station is now on the property, it's a gray area as to whether they were stolen from the ciy. My thoughts are that they were meant to be destroyed. The PLA-1's show alot of wear, although the others show little wear or none at all. There were no 500's found to my knowledge and very few 500a's. I'd say 50 max. For people who say they have more, I'd have to see them all at once to believe it. Both 1's and both 2.5's were in short supply as well. Maybe 200-300 each. As far as the others, 1000's of each chip. As far as the discoloration, they've been buried in red clay mud for all these years. Red clay stains most things, although the chips I've seen clean up pretty well. You can believe any/all/none of this. I can't convince you either way, but this information is true to my knowledge. Can anyone tell me how the market will be effected by the lower # of these certain chips? Will they hold some value? Please remember, we're not bad people. We just happen to be around when the chips surfaced.-Frank
