If it has a casino name or logo, I collect it (except for plastic drinks glasses).
2. How many chips, etc. do you have?
I have not counted, but suspect that I have more than 1,000 or so
3. How long have you been collecting?
Just about 10 years. Like Luke Rapley, I too joined during the Convention in 1998 at The Orleans.
4. What got you started in collecting?
I have always liked casino action. Used to visit Vegas with my parents in the late 60's. Even had a match book collection of downtown casinos, as we always stayed at the Four Queens. In high school the matches came in handy for smoking! My wife and I got married in Vegas 31 years ago last Wednesday! We used to stay at places like the Silver Bird and the Sahara and always kept the room key fobs. Unfortunately we used them with car keys and when the hole broke, the fob was tossed! . 10 years ago, with many, many trips to Vegas, I got fed-up with losing (blackjack) that I decided to keep a chip, "One that the casino won't win from me!" It's been down-hill ever since! I remember, from the very beginning I was all over the place with no focus. Even when I had 15 chips, I would sort them by denomination, and then re-sort by location, and then re-sort by timeframe of acquisition, and then re-sort by chip style, over and over again. I gave up re-sorting after 100 chips. Today I have 3 categories, my collection, my traders and chips waiting to be filed into my collection. I have 12 racks of chips waiting to be filed into the collection, which is why I know I have more that 1,000 or so in my collection!
Wow, what a ride!!
