Re: Story about RFID and casinos in todays LVRJ

Thanks for the post Tarl, I've been following the story since Wynn resort opened with these critters on the table. Same story as then, RFID can do anything! So they've added laundry to the uh, laundry list of magical RFID solutions. The preveyors of Radio Frequency ID point to all sorts of uses, tracking this and that in airports or trucks or chickens crossing the road but when will we ever hear from the casinos? Is it working in fact in real life? That was once the subject of a thread on the Gaming Floor trade forum but no one had an endorsement or comdemnation of the system.

Wynn has never made a statement concerning RFID benefits that I've run across although I've cashed at the cage after my bugged chips have been interrogated by Marconian wizardry. Any reporter type want to wander over there and ask about RFID? Ooops, sounds like work doesn't it? Honestly, I'd really love to read that aspect of the story.

I'm still curious if we're just seeing a boondoogle that sees gaming entities being scammed by weasles selling not only chips but hardware, software, IT support and personel and service contracts. Here's some cost-saving strategies that might really pay off:

1. Hire welders that ain't gonna set your joint on fire.
2. Buy the permits, grease the inspectors but do the remodeling correctly anyway. The range of whistleblowers is vastly superior to RFID.
3. Dump 6:5 Blackjack, dump "Resort Fees", give Tyrus and Gene a raise and be nice to ccgtcc.
