This notation is from the head of security at Stakis Casinos (GLASGOW); 1992:
".....My department is responsible for the security and destruction of obsolete table chip and plaques. Over the past two to three years our 19 casinos have re-chipped, and we have destroyed literally hundreds of thousands of obsolete chips...." [Stakis did present me with a few rare plaques that never made it to the ovens ]
This second bit of information came from a French casino collector living in Europa:
[From memory; notes in vault, somewhere] A certain casino had changed its inventory of all plastic jetons and plaques and donated the material to the city to use as they pleased. The city commissioned a local sculptor who erected a statue in the town's square with all the jetons and plaques (I think a torch was used ).
