Pam G. Style Story Time! vbg

Really enjoyed the napkins Pam G. showed the other day with the notes on 'em. She mentioned a series of postcards that I showed back in 2005 that I really like a lot. Since we've got a few new folks that check in here since then that value these kind of items, I thought I'd repost. I wrote up a cheeky story line to go along with them that I'll leave in the archives but I'll point out some things I've noticed in the pics that make them interesting. In fact it seems I notice something additional everytime I look at the things. I've carted them off to family events and we speculate about these people and their visit to Nevada Club Las Vegas in the late '50's. Take a look and add to the fun of a Trip report 50 years after the fact! grin Another History Hound Dog, (of course, Pam G. is a History Fox) Englebretson noticed these cards on eBay at the same time, one auction lot from an antique-type dealer and even with the wee auction images, we agreed they looked mighty cool. I was lucky enough to win them and I keep them on my desk at home where I can see them every day.

Here they are in the order that I've devined they were taken per the photog # and stamped dates that appear on the back. I'm of the opinion that the first five are sisters, what do ya think, twins?

With the postcards in hand, it is easy to pick out details like purses, jewelery and clothing that ID these two gals. Since these came from a single lot, I'm thinking that they were found in the eBay era shoe boxed in the family museum.

Two days later and we have the sis w/o the glasses. Slightly diff hairdos but both have a fur wrap. The sister with the good eyes also seems a little more fit. grin In fact:

We find the sleek one the next day slamming down a screwdriver to top off her breakfast at the Nevada Club coffee shop. Check the hair, I'm thinking Benny Binion's security had her in a headlock at some point the night before. Oh, BTW, she's playing pinball...in a casino. Also, I've upgraded that HHL quarter since I created the scan.

Here are the two most interesting PC's:

The sisters have traded that sweater one to the other. Got any idea what that earnest discussion might have been about? Oh man, as an older sibling, I bet I've had that same smirk on my face after manipulating my sister. vbg Hear they had a real hot Keno game at that new place you can see across the street, at least for a little while.

A side note, the chips in the first scan and the fifth scan are the same TCR# only one is drilled and one isn't. Guess who I bought the "undrilled" one from. Dave Whelan. Back before we learned you-know-what. Consider this as disclosure from now until...whenever.

And now, the puzzler:

I'm pegging this as a sister, but is she one that we've met? This babe's name is Lola or Gina. Certainly rates the world's only eight piece casino chip, flamboyant, um, is that TR King an Octo-pie chip? Slightly different demeanor that we've seen but that nose is family for sure. August now instead of January but I'll bet this one has a fur or two in her closet as well. Perhaps that trip over to The Birdcage was The Big One that killed the canary and changed the life of little sister. A makeover, some baubles, a Lasic procedure and she's the first Madonna look-alike!

Feel free to add to this episode of ChipBoard Storytime. Mostly though, keep collecting and pass along to us the things that get your mind spinning.

When these folks got home, the Club would send them this little paper so they could keep up with LV until next time. 1958 also!
