These silly (and demeaning) procedures remind me of what an Israeli security expert said when criticizing our airport security procedures shortly after the 9/11 events. He said that in Israel, they look for terrorists, but in the USA they just look for weapons. So a nun with a nail file becomes a perceived threat.
