A polite request to let you give a hand signal...

is usually sufficient. They are really required to do that, and I have never had a problem asking a dealer to let me make the decision on each hand. But you're right, many dealers in Las Vegas tend to blow right past what they think is a pat hand.

I often play multiple hands, and have had a similar problem with dealers ignoring hands not directly in front of me. If asked, they will call the PB, who will usually give the players at the table an option to play their hand or call it dead. Again, this usually only happens once with a dealer; they watch for multiple hands after that.
