I will be in Atlantic City on April 6th and 7th and am going to try and pick up a few chips (few may be an understatement). My goal is to pick up a variety of the chips from each casino so I can expand my collection and also have some traders on hand. It is a bit sad, but this trip should allow me to easily double my current chip collection. I have had a look at Archie Black's extensive online catalogue of AC chips but still have a couple of unanswered questions. I hope someone here can help me out.
- Which casinos have $10 or $20 chips in circulation, and where do you find them (poker room, baccarat pit, elsewhere)? I saw a post here a few days ago asking about a $10 Taj Mahal chip and thought it would add a little flair to my collection if I had one or two of the blue or yellow AC chips. Are the $10 and $20 the only "odd" values out there or do the casinos use any other uncommon chip values ($2, $3, $4, $8 etc)? If I recall correctly, I think New Jersey gaming has set a list of values that can be used, but am just curious since Las Vegas casinos often use drop chips and LE's in uncommon values.
- Do the table games, baccarat pits and poker rooms have unique chips issued or are the chips the same at every table in each casino?
- Is there a list out there that has only the current chips that are in the casinos? Mr. Black's list is extensive but it doesn't really say what is current and what is obsolete. I would like to try and make a checklist of what I should pick up but don't know what chips on Mr. Black's list are actually on the tables.
These questions are definitely in the newbie to amateur range, but I hope someone out there can throw me a bone.
Thank you
Dan
