Today’s selection comes from Bangladesh; formerly East Pakistan, Bangladesh is located on the Bay of Bengal bordered by India and Burma. The nation of Bangladesh (land of the Bengalis) was created in 1971. India helped the Bengalis achieve independence from Pakistan.

The note is a 1997 issue 10 Taka (1 Taka = 100 Poisha) the front has Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at left. He served as the first President of Bangladesh and later became its Prime Minister. On the back is Laibagh Fort mosque in Tangail at left center. The note has a watermark of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and has a security strip but no UV markings. The book value for this note is $2.50.
