I can’t say I agree or disagree because it depends on the person I am dealing with. You did not state how well you knew the person you were dealing with. If you send the coins you cannot ‘retract’ your actions. If he sends a check he CAN retract his actions by stopping payment. So if you both send on the same day you are committed that day, he on the other hand is committed when the check clears. If selling, I would wait for payment.

Now, having said that… doing business with someone I know all that goes out the window. I would ship right away. I don’t feel the risk is as great. I know even the best deals and agreements can go astray even with friends but I take the risk.

I am like Aaron in that I don’t often deal with amounts over $1,000. but $100’s very often (I happened to have made 3 today). All with people I know and am sure everything will be sent Monday or Tuesday (one deal is for credit due me so no payment was sent).

So, the answer is Yes, sometimes and No others.
