I am no religious scholar but I have read that Halie Salassie was one the only people in the world that could trace his lineage back to Jesus Christ. As you pointed out he was revered as the concurring Lion of Judah. He was also the inspiration for the rastafarian movement in Jamaica, as many Jamaican's were decended from Ethiopia in the very early days of slavery.
