A kilometer or kilometre depending on where you live,is a metric measurement.
It sucks.I am an old fashioned "mile" guy.
Basically 1.6 kilometers equals 1 mile.
The US and Britain are the only two countries that I know of that still use miles on their highways.
We use the metric system up here.Most of us older folks hate it.We do not have inches or feet(except the ones we walk with)...we have centimeters and meters.We do not have pounds and ounces...we have grams and kilograms. Not fun, BUT....we are a dying breed and all kids learn this way to measure in school. Progress..........blecchhh.
