As pointed out on the board before, as well as publications there is the impression of collectors in general are on the decline. I am not totally convinced of that. I do believe people change in what they collect, and the ebb and flow may give false impressions of long term health of a particular hobby or collecting in general. Remember Beanie-Babies, POGS, Cabbage Patch dolls? Some hobbies are fad items do die or decline. I think our hobby is secure, but that is my personal opinion. Unless you are collecting investment chips why worry about it? I would enjoy collecting chips even if I was the ONLY collector in the world. I like the chips even if no one else does. As an investment, I might worry now and then by what 'appears' to be happening. If that is the case one should consider collecting things that are worthless and be safe from loss. In my opinion many people are 'pack-rats' and will continue to be forever, it seems to be human nature and it will always be older people making up the majority of collectors because they can afford more non-essential things. Just my thoughts...
