NCR, BankNote of the Day.....

Tonight’s note comes from the country of Bangladesh. Formerly East Pakistan, Bangladesh is located on the Bay of Bengal bordered by India and Burma (now Myanmar). The nation of Bangladesh (land of the Bengalis) was created in 1971. India helped the Bengals achieve independence from Pakistan.

The note selected is a 1 Taka issued in 1973. (Front) This note features a hand holding plants of rice, perhaps symbolic of this poor nation's hopes. (Back) Arms at r. with design over watermark area. The watermark is a Bengal Tiger with no UV coding but has security thread just off-center (can be seen)

This note came to me from my high school geometry teacher. It was long after I graduated that I discovered that he was an avid note collector. The book value of this UNCirculated note is only $5.00 but (like others I have in my collection) is worth much more to me that book value, as my teacher and friend died many years ago and this was one of the many he gave me. ENJOY!!

Languages: Bengali, English
Religions: Muslim, Hindu
Status: UN Country
