NCR, BankNote of the Day.....
The note selected tonight is from the Republic of Maldives. It is an archipelago of 2000 coral islets in the northern Indian Ocean, in-between Africa and India. The note is a 1950 issue if a 1 Rupee. This note I have had in my collection for many years, I acquired it at an international airport exchange. I was a kid and wanted to buy some foreign money and did not know there were minimums on exchanges but the guy cut me some slack since I was a kid and let me buy one note from many countries and didn’t charge a premium. Plus he picked the best of everything he had. The front has a Palm tree and Dhow (boat) at right. The back has a building at center. (Note) These notes are made of particularly thick paper to make the note last longer in the high humidity. These are the only notes I have ever found that are made this way. This note is in UNCirculated condition and has a book value of $20.00, a far cry from what I paid (it was well under a dollar).
ENJOY!!
