I ran across another Northern Ireland Commemorative note I thought you would like. It’s a 1999 issue of the 5 Pound note issued from the Northern Bank Limited. The note is commemorating the Millennium. Another note exactly the same was produced in 2000 for Y2K, the serial number prefix on the Millennium is MM and the Y2K prefix is Y2K. Something that make these notes much different that 'normal notes' are because they are made of a plastic polymer (the star and the globes are actually transparent, not black as my scanner makes it appear) and they are in a vertical format. The front has the Northern bank logo on top, globes and star with design background containing “2000”. The back shows the space shuttle and earth, and electronics set on a design and timepiece in the background. The hexagon in the lower right is a security device made up of microprint to foil counterfeiting. Also the not is printed by the Canadian Bank Note (CBN) company. This note in UNCirculated condition carries a $15.00 book value, the Y2K in the same condition carries a $25.00 book value. Go figure! ENJOY!!
