'Bout eBay and stuff...

So allot has been posted recently about eBay being "The Evil Empire" and all, what with the changes, and as some put, their lack of attentiveness or ineffectual handling of complaints. Now before y'all start with the "here he goes again...company boy!", let me state where I'm coming from. Yes, I guess I am a company boy. Who was it is those old 70s commercials that liked Norelco so much he bought the company? Well, I didn't buy the company, but I bought into them. Yes, I'm a stock-holder.

(Note: I do not speak on behalf of eBay, or the stockholders. Just myself.)

I don't agree with allot of the stuff that eBay has done recently, the whole feedback thing is a sham and a shame! So,...let's look at some options...

Carousel Auctions...I love em, but it's really hard to navigate through all the other crap to find collector chips. It's also hard to pay through Paypal, or leave feedback. A redesign would help allot! (BIG HINT for Koyla!)

Jackpot Auctions...I used to love this site. It was a great way to grab some cheap chips and tokens. But now it's just Silver Strikers (not that there's anything wrong with that). It's also hard to pay through Paypal and leave feedback.

Yahoo Auction is no more in the US. (Have you seen the new Yahoo Branded eBay tool bar for Yahoo? I wonder who ate them?)

Amazon Auctions...I have no experience with them, but a place where I can buy anything right down to breakfast cereal, has me frightened.

So, where does that leave us (the chip collectors)?

We are a category specific interest. Meaning that in any collectors of exonumia, we fall "outside" their/most collecting interests, and as such our auction/collecting needs will fall to the wayside of even items like elongated pennies.

We have a great base in eBay, but Jackpot and Carousel need to address issues to make their auctions and interfaces much more user friendly.

Another reason folks use eBay and not others is that they are looking for a "deal!" For instance, many folks offer chips for sale here on the CB, but they offer them around Catalog Value. I'm hittin' eBay cause I think I can get the same chip for less, and in an auction situation. The auction situation is key here. Folks love a competition, even if they are snipping it!

Guess thats all I have to say 'bout this right now. If you have other stuff to say, let's hear it.
