I have been using this great poker ranking formula that you folks
here on the board have given me. My question is where did this formula
come from? That is, where is it used? Vegas? Everywhere?? Just curious
that's all.
The formula is the:
15 X (sqrt(sqrt B)) X (N-6/R)
B= buy in
N= number of players
R= rank
We have a group of 90 players and this formula has been great for us. We
play every Friday for 52 weeks in a row. The top 50 get to play in the
championship tournament for some good cash.
Buy-in every Friday is always $27 with $2 of every buy-in going to the big
end of year event. I played 41 weeks in 2007 finishing first four times. We
pay out the top seven places each week. At least 50 to 60 players seem to show up
each week. I finished the end of year in 5th place over all and thus earned
my way into the championship game held on January 5th 2008. I got lucky
and took 1st place this year. What a great feeling. Sure wasn't the WSOP or
anything, but what a hoot.
I won a gold bracelet ( not real gold of course ), a nice trophy, and a
.999 silver coin engraved with the tournament details on it. Oh! I almost forgot
to mention the $1800 first prize cash award.
We are five weeks into the 2008 year and out of 63 players I am in the top spot
for now. That can go south in a hurry of course. Just a little bit of Vegas
in gloomy old Ashtabula Ohio.
Would welcome any info on the above formula. Thanks All!
