The only benefit to sellers, isn't good for buyers

The company is also eliminating fees in the U.S. for its Gallery option, which it expects will spur sellers to include more photos of the item for sale. So we save 35c on every listing, making the site look better. Remember the plug that you get with every new listing? Adding an image increases sales x%.

Now almost every listing will have a photo, so that advantage disappears.

In other words this is going to save us money, and make eBay look better. Nothing is done to help buyers and sellers, unless it helps eBay. grin

I agree with the people who have concluded that shipping will go up. I always gave people a break, many times shipping for less than it cost me, to encourage realistic bids and make things simple. No more.

Consider this. If a fee for the seller goes up, there are two places to recover the added expense. The seller can take a bite out of their profits, or the seller can transfer the added cost to the buyers.

In most cases the obvious is going to happen. We will pay more as buyers for shipping, so the added eBay final sale fees can be offset. (a polite way to say seller fee avoidance)

I don't buy and sell that much. It's not going to kill me to make 42c less on a sale. But I know that if someone else selling has to pay 42c more, the shipping is going to go up a dollar. You can be sure that nothing is coming out of eBays pocket in this deal. Just the pockets of buyers and sellers.
