Not too long ago I bought a battery back up UPS for my office in the home. A few nights ago we had an ice storm and the power went out. It came back on just a few minutes later, but in the meantime I plugged my floor lamp into the UPS so that I could have some light also.

About an hour later, the electricity went out again. I was at my computer, probably on The Chip Board and this time when it went out, even my lamp stayed on. It had little to no effect on what I was doing. I heard my wife groan from upstairs as she was working on her computer. My son came scooting down as he had been playing games on his computer. Within minutes they were both in my office and were a little pissed off at the fact that my computer and most of the stuff in my office was just purring along like nothing had happened.
