Re: Is this chip from Reno?
From my book I offer this info. I dont feel any other info. has come out.
I believe that is my chip you picture, or was mine.
(Colbrandt’s was originally a cigar stand going back to the early 1900s when it was Reilly & Colbrandt’s. Located a few doors down at 155 North Virginia Street then moving to 123 and finally 147 in 1937. The club became The Flamingo in 1940 when Smith and Austin purchased the it from Mae Colbrandt. The high limit roulette captured the well known high roller Lavere Redfield. There is a strong chance the Flamingo Club chips with Sky (line drawn across) were in use here. This Sky(line) meaning- the sky’s the limit saying they were the main club to take $100 straight up bets leads to a theory special chips were ordered for this table. Perhaps these were ordered in 1940 and the Flamingo Las Vegas which opened in 1946 had their chips duplicated. In October 1946 the owners sold their interest to Floyd Anderson who took out the games a year later in 47. The Flamingo opened in Vegas in December of 1946 and perhaps the manufacturer knowing of the sale of the Reno Flamingo felt it would be ok to duplicate the Flamingo bird on the Vegas chips! 1954 to 57 gaming resumed. Currently this is a Burger King. )
