I did what you did about 10 years ago. I was at an antique store and was offered 100 chips for $200. The were $20+ in the guides and I sold them for $10-20 hoping to get my money back eventually. After 10 years I have 60 left after selling, trading and even giving a few sets away. I guess I got my money back but it sure took a long time. And of course I helped some fellow colletors add to their collections some chips they might never get otherwise. I have done the same thing with several illegal club/UFC chips and I will probably never get my money out of them. Of course I did get to add them to my collection. The fun is in the hunt and if you can make a few bucks or add to your trade material I say go for it.
