That is correct! If I can not be there to snipe a bid I will post a bid, and if it is the highest bid, increase my bid by 1¢ and bid 5~6 times, giving the illusion I have 'upped' my bid by 5~6 bid increments. Sometimes this works to discourage other bidding. Sometimes another bidder wants to 'make you pay' and ends up with the hook in HIS mouth.
I am amazed by the increasing number of 0 feedback bidders who register the DAY an auction opens and bid high bids, only to never be heard from again. I used the 1¢ gag on an auction which had 2 shills. Needless to say the item 'sold' for about 5 times its value to the shill bidder. I bet eBay got their FEES!
