I know my strengths and weaknesses and know when I play a bad game.I am talking strictly about ridiculous suckouts week after week. If this was a movie or book,no one would believe it
When you are all in and are a 75% to 90% favorite most of the time and are losing those battles consistently,I don't think that the play has that much to do with it Jerry.
Reread my first post and look at the hands I have been losing on and tell me what book I should read to fix bad luck.
As for reading those books:I have an extensive poker library and have read and reread them all.Strangely enough, luck is rarely spoken about in these books.
It's the usual "play your position" or "play the top 10 or so hands". That sounds great in theory but they never talk about sitting for hours and never being able to play a hand because the highest you might get in that period is a baby Ace or 9-2. We all have those nights, but some people get them more than others. And then...when you finally get that one good hand and make a move,it gets cracked when you are an overwhelming favorite. That has nothing to do with skill or lack of,especially when it has been going on for months.
I do keep close records of my play and until this year(2007) I have been a winning player....not rich, because I do not play high stakes, but was doing ok.
There is a documentary out right now called NO LIMIT:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478217/ It is about a couple who are independent film makers. The wife is a poker player who wants to enter some tourneys at the WSOP,to try and finance a new film.In this movie are commentaries by all of the top pros around today. That is the only time I have ever seen or heard pros talk about how much luck is involved in the game.
They also talk about ridiculous losing streaks which can go on for several months and no one ever suggests that they go read books. Some of them state that they have almost quit the game because of the amount of beats that they have had during these streaks.
My question again is....how do the members of this board who play deal with it when they have their streaks. And...if you have never had one....I envy you.
