From what I understand she had gotten too close to catching the "rabbit". That's a death sentence in the world of greyhounds. She passed away at the age of nine.
My current greyhound is "Aljo Jate", we call her AJ. She was retired at the age of two because she broke her toe. This too is a death sentence in the greyhound world.
Ex-racers are very sweet dogs, and I urge anybody who is thinking of getting a dog to contact a Greyhound Adoption League in their state. They are gentle with kids and cats, but most have been babied since rescue and view your couch, chair and bed as another comfy sleeping mat! LOL
