You seem to accept for a fact, without question, that climate change is being accelerated by the burning of fossil fuels.
If you'll dig a little deeper than what the mainstream media reports, you'll find there are many, many climatologists who will state quite plainly that the jury is still out on whether man, and the so-called greenhouse gases have had any significant effect on climate change at all.
Believe me, I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh, as you seem to think anyone with the least skeptical opinion must do. But, I'm wise enough to see that people on both sides of the issue are exploiting the subject for political and economic gain. I've been reading books on this subject (with an open mind) for the last few years and my conclusion is that we don't know enough to say one way or the other.
All of the alarming things we hear about impending climactic doom are based on computer models, which produce results on the basis of ASSUMPTIONS that the climatologists put into them. And, guess what? The results the models produce vary dramatically from one model to the next. And, the early results produced by the same climatologists are being proven wrong year by year. By the way, many of these are the same folks who predicted 30 years ago that we were headed for another ice age.
Factor into the mix that most of the scientists running these models receive their funding from sources with a vested interest in keeping the global warming hysteria alive. Producing a report showing things are hunky dory is one surefire way to get your grant proposal dropped next year. Add to the mix the fact that the motivations of politicians from other countries to jump on the environmentalism bandwagon don't always involve just wanting to save the planet.
Dig into the facts a little bit if you want to know the truth--which is that we just don't know enough to know what IS the truth. On the other hand, if you like preaching against progress and technology because it makes you feel like you're doing something good for the Earth, then go ahead and listen to everything Al Gore tells you, and believe it without questioning.
