Ricky; In my younger days when I collected mint condition U.S. postage stamps, there was (and probably still is) the craze for never hinged material. Even very slightly, hardly detectable hinging, would result in the stamp's value to be heavily diminished. It came to be that some folks were putting more emphasis on the gum side than what was printed on the face side of the stamp! (O.K. ... maybe a slight eggageration ... but you get the point)
